Wireless Router and Access
Point
Routers
(in the orange circle) are essential for any computer
networks. The router is commonly used as a host to share
an Internet connection with multiple computers. It also
provides security features such as a firewall to protect
you from Internet threats.
Access
point (in the red circle) on the other hand is used
as a wireless connection extender. If you already have
a router that doesn't have a wireless function and want
to add on a wireless network with it, the access point
will do that. If you're in the office and notice you
have working Ethernet port wall jacks that connects
to your server room, you can connect the access point
to those and create a wireless network in that room
