Introduction to Power-line Network
| Power-line networking
is another excellent alternative for Internet sharing
at home or office. Power-line networking basically transforms
your wall's power outlets into a computer network. Although
the current power-line speed is only 14 Mbps (HomePlug
1.0), there are a few reasons why people would consider
power-line networking over wireless network would be for
its stability, range, and even security. In the future
though, power-line will be much faster thanks to Power-line
TURBO, click here for more information.
With power-line, you can even extend your wireless network
to those low signal areas. In the diagram below you'll
see how you can apply a power-line network to your home,
office, and even to your wireless network. Please note
that the red lines indicate power-line connections from
the wall outlets. Also for more information on our Power-line

The
Power-line Adapter

|
The power-line adapter usually
comes in two different forms. One of them is Ethernet, which
you connect to any devices that have a Ethernet port. Such
devices would include routers, desktop systems, notebook systems,
video game consoles, and any other devices that incorporate
networking with Ethernet.
The other form of power-line
adapter is universal serial bus (USB). USB are only used for
computer systems. In most cases, you would buy the USB power-line
adapter to enable your computer system to go online.
